During lockdown, I realised the importance of social support and communities. The different experiences and issues that people underwent influenced my interpretation of the exhibition theme “Forests of Hope” for which this piece was designed.
This piece, aims to showcase a hopeful vision of a progressive and ideal society, where various individuals come together to build a community. When viewers look at the different pieces of mirrors on the floor, they see their own reflections, which are connected by a string, forming a beautiful painting on the top. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses which combined, create a powerful society, just like how various elements of nature come together to create a forest.
